KIA Stonic 2024 Overview
KIA Stonic 2024[https://kia-luckymotorcorp.com/showroom/stonic/] is a subcompact crossover SUV manufactured by the South Korean multinational corporation KIA Motors. It was first introduced in South Korea in 2017 and later received a facelift in October 2020. It was discontinued in South Korea in 2020 due to its declining popularity.
According to KIA, STONIC is derived from the words “speech and tonic, the first and last notes of a musical scale. In the KIA model portfolio, the Stonic is the smallest KIA crossover that sits two steps below the Sportage. The company advertises the KIA Stonic as a small car for big adventures, indicating that it is suitable for both intra-city tours and long drives.
Kia Stonic Exterior:
The sleek yet bold design of the KIA Stonic 2024 sets it apart from its competitors. KIA’s signature tiger nose grille and muscular bumper add to its boldness. The Stonic EX comes with a matte black grille, while the EX+ comes in piano black. All its variants have LED daytime running lights, but the front and rear fog lights are only available with regular bulbs in both variants. The exterior mirrors on both the KIA Stonic EX and EX+ are electrically adjustable, retractable, and heated.
The EX+ also comes with a rearview mirror. The KIA Stonic EX comes with dual-function halogen projection headlamps with static cornering lights that illuminate road corners while taking turns at slow speeds. On the other hand, the EX+ has LED projection headlamps. The rear of the Stonic 2024 is no less striking, with three-dimensional combination lamps and a steep rear window. A purposeful spoiler wraps around the rear window, which houses a raised brake light. The KIA Stonic EX+ also comes with a sunroof, which the EX model lacks.
The aerodynamic design of all Stonic 2024 variants directs airflow towards the engine and wheel wells for improved stability at high speeds. The EX comes with 15-inch alloy rims, and the EX+ comes with 16-inch alloy rims.
Kia Stonic Interior:
The interior of the KIA Stonic 2024 is clean and comfortable. The company claims that the seating capacity is 5, but in practice it is limited to 4 only. All the seats have adjustable headrests, and both variants come with 6 airbags. The rear seats feature a 40:60 split fold to increase storage space. The D-shaped steering wheel creates driver comfort and more legroom but is only available on the KIA Stonic EX+. Options like audio call, voice recognition, and mid-software changes are available at the driver’s fingertips as they are part of the steering wheel controls.
The handbrake on the Stonic is manual. The electrochromic rear view mirror on the EX+ and sunglasses case in the front overhead console lamps on both variants add convenience to the driver and passengers alike. The black high-gloss center fascia houses an 8-inch floating infotainment system. It supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with Bluetooth connectivity and voice recognition. Bluetooth multi-connection allows two devices to be connected simultaneously, one for hands-free phone and media and the other for media only. 6 powerful speakers in the sonic stereo system provide a premium entertainment experience.
The cruise control function, manual speed assist, and push-button start/stop feature are only available in the KIA Stonic EX+. The EX+ also comes with forward and reverse parking assist sensors. Both models feature Vehicle Stability Management, which ensures maximum safety while maintaining vehicle stability and balance. Hill Start Assist further improves the driving experience on steep roads. The anti-lock braking system helps provide better handling on slippery roads. The advanced feature of Single Zone Climate Control also helps in maintaining a stable interior climate of the vehicle.
Kia Stonic Engine:
Both the KIA Stonic EX and KIA Stonic EX+ come with a 1.4L petrol engine. The 6-speed automatic transmission engine produces 99 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 133 Nm at 4,000 rpm to deliver excellent performance to these front-wheel-drive vehicles.
Kia Stonic Mileage:
Both the KIA Stonic EX and EX+ have a fuel consumption of 12 km/l in the city and 16 km/l on the highway.
Kia Stonic Ride & Handling:
The KIA Stonic 2024 offers a smooth driving experience with the help of its traction control system. Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) balances the ride. Even during turns, it stays upright and rides smoothly over bumps. The steering experience isn’t as great as its rivals, especially when it comes to front grip. On the other hand, the steering is well weighted to help you stay in your lane on the highway. Both variants also come with a tire pressure monitoring system that alerts you when any tire is low on air pressure. The availability of a stability control system makes the driving experience more comfortable.
Stonic Competitors:
The KIA Stonic 2024 faces tough competition from the Suzuki Swift,[https://caressay.com/2024-suzuki-swift/] Honda BR-V, and MG ZS on the market.
The Honda BR-V’s 1.5L i-VTEC engine and the MG ZS’s 1.5L NSE engine challenge the KIA Stonic 1.4L MPI engine. The BR-V also excels with its 7-seat passenger capacity and 6-speed automatic transmission. As both the BR-V and Stonic fall into the same cost category, the BR-V’s better torque and higher ground clearance replaced the Stonic. On the other hand, the MG ZS has a more powerful engine and power-packed features. It is also said to be the most affordable SUV in Pakistan currently on the market, which gives tough competition to the KIA Stonic.
